How Often Should I Change My Car’s Oil?

Oil Change Service Center

Once upon a time, most manufacturers recommended changing your car’s oil every 3,000 miles or every three months. Now, you’ll hear a range of answers to this question. Some manufacturers cite 5,000 miles or 7,500 miles as the gold standard for changing oil. If your car uses synthetic oil, it could extend to 10,000 miles.

Talk to one of our service advisors about when it’s best to change your car’s oil. Also, review your owner’s manual for their recommendation. Every six months can be a good rule of thumb as well.

When Should I Replace My Tires?

Tire Replacement Service Center

Within five years, your tires will most likely need to be replaced. Although they may hold out for 10 years, it’s best to get them checked out every time you get your vehicle’s oil changed once your car reaches 25,000 miles. This is also a good time to schedule a tire rotation, which should be completed every 5,000 to 10,000 miles or so.

When you bring in your car for service, a service advisor can check your vehicle’s current tire inflation and examine the tires. They’ll look for uneven wear, cracked rubber, and conduct a test of the treads.

By using a penny, you can see for yourself if your tires need to be replaced. If the penny disappears within the treads, your tires should be updated. If you see nearly the entire copper coin, the treads remain effective.

How Long Do Brakes Last?

Brake Pads Service Center

Brake pads protect the rotors, and, with daily usage, they’ll wear down. Around 50,000 miles, the brake pads will need to be replaced. Depending on your driving style and where you drive, your brake pads may last longer or not quite as long.

If you tend to apply your brakes due to speeding, stop-and-go congestion, or consistently descending hills, your vehicle’s brake pads will deteriorate. Drivers who ride on more rural yet smooth roads and don’t use the brakes as liberally may not need to replace them as often. At 25,000 miles, make it a practice to get them examined.

How Long Will My Car Battery Last?

Car Battery Service Center

A car battery should last about three years. To see if it’s on its way out, get it tested by a service advisor during your vehicle’s next routine checkup. Signs may also appear that indicate your battery could be dying. These include a car that takes longer to start—or won’t start at all—leakage or corrosion around the battery, or a rotten egg odor.
